Popcorn Ceiling Removal

If the acoustic ceiling know commonly as popcorn texture is in good condition, you may be wondering why take it down? Here are a few common reasons:

Outdated Appearance – Today’s design aesthetic embraces clean lines and clear surfaces.

Potentially Hazardous – Ceilings textured from the 1950s to the 1980s may have been made using asbestos fibers.

Condition –Bald spots where repairs were made, or cleaning was attempted. In other areas the acoustic texture is commonly inconsistent.

Cleaning –Acoustic ceilings are hard to keep clean. You cannot wash it without a mess and dust clings to the texture. Paint is often the only way to make it look clean.

The process of removing the popcorn texture is dirty and often difficult. If not performed correctly, the removal process can be messy, stressful, and expensive and take more time than you think.

To ensure a successful job, we will cover all the furniture and floors with plastic prior to removal. The covering prevents the fine dust from settling into fabrics and floor cracks.

Once the popcorn is removed a somewhat rough surface is left behind. At that point you can determine which texture replacement option is right for your project.

The removal of a popcorn ceiling should be left to the professionals at Drywall Solutions
